Synta Style 2" Crayford Refractor Focuser
Synta/Skywatcher style 2" Crayford type refractor focusers, new and white.
For 3.78" (96mm) inside diameter tubes. Fits inside the tube, secured with
three provided M4 screws. We can likely provide tube adapters for larger tubes,
given precise outside tube diameter and tube wall thickness dimensions.
The drawtube is 9" long including the two-screw type visual back, and it runs on
four 8mm roller bearings. Drawtube is flat black inside, with three internal light
baffles at 4.5, 7 and 8.5" from the eyepiece end. Drawtube travel is 5.3"
We can shorten the drawtube for use with short-tube scopes, a reasonable length
might be to leave the 7" baffle, making about 3" of drawtube travel.
Has a drawtube locking thumbscrew and an Allen screw Crayford drive coarse
tension screw. Minimum drive tension is set with two 1.5mm drive Allen screws.
Being a Crayford, tension can be set to have a very light touch, but it will back-drive
(slip) when set that way. Tension is adjustable over a wide range, balancing touch
for tension. We can provide a tension thumbscrew to replace the allen screw, but
the (redundant) locking screw has to be removed to make room.
Cast aluminum body, aluminum drawtube with machined flat. 1.7" diameter
aluminum focus knobs with rubber tires. Has standard type finder shoe.
Weighs 1.75 lbs.
We can make twist-lock type visual backs for this focuser, given enough serious
interest.
