Antares Sentinel 80mm f6 Achromatic Refractor

The Sentinel 80 is a beautifully made achromatic refractor that's a
step above other short tube 80's. From the retractable dew shield to
the smooth 2" Crayford focuser, the fit and finish show quality. The
catalog guys call it "semi-apo" but we will just say this doublet has
very little false color. Great for grab and go, carry-on travel scope
or piggybacking.

80mm f6 (480mm FL) airspaced, fully multicoated doublet objective
in a heavily baffled, flat black interior tube. Rotatable 2" Crayford
focuser has 3" travel, a beefy drawtube with a compression ring
back and comes with a 1.25" compression ring reducer. 18" overall
with dew shield extended, 15" when retracted. Removable mounting
foot has 1/4-20 threaded holes for tripod mounting. Scope weighs 5.6"
lbs. Case has fitted foam block with cutouts for accessories and
eyepieces, shoulder strap and handle. Aluminum front cap and
focuser plug included.

The other guys would have you believe they designed this scope, or
that they sell a superior version... Not so! This is the same scope,
same quality, same warranty, same case, but different name and
different price!

The Sentinel 80 is a joy to use, and the rotating focuser makes use
on a GEM very nice. Instead of repositioning your diagonal for
various orientations, the entire focuser rotates to keep the focus
knobs horizontal and the eyepiece facing up, and you don't have
to loosen the rings to do so. Star images are crisp and symmetrical
and the double-double splits at about 100x with good conditions.
Extended objects look great with a wide field 2" eyepiece and
diagonal.
