Wireless Goto Connection with RS232 Bluetooth Wireless Adapters

Control your telescope from your computer, wirelessly! The good old
RS232 connectors on laptop computers are a thing of the past, but
most new laptop computers have internal bluetooth wireless interfaces.
If your computer doesn't have bluetooth built in, USB adapters to
provide bluetooth for your computer are inexpensive.

Our wireless kits are based on Class 1 (up to 100 meter) bluetooth
adapters that have an external antenna for long range and reliable
operation. They conform to specs for bluetooth RS232 serial devices.

The Scope-End Kits come with one bluetooth RS232 adapter and an
interface adapter that has the correct power and RS232 cables for
your scope. No batteries are required for the bluetooth adapter, it
derives power from the scope's external power source. We pre-
configure the Scope-End adapter for your scope, so installation at the
scope is easy. You have to provide and configure the bluetooth for your
computer, which is fairly easy for technical types. Scope-End kits also
come with a heat-shrink sleeve that can be slipped over the adapter to
guard from moisture and to tone down the brightness of the status LEDs.
Your astronomy software must support COM ports greater than COM4,
but that is common to most packages. Windows bluetooth RS232 port
assignments are normally from COM5 to COM15.

If your installation currently uses a 9 pin RS232 cable, our Cable
Replacement solution might be the easiest to implement. The Cable
Replacement kits come with two bluetooth adapters, one configured
for each end of the link. We configure the adapter baud rates and other
parameters so you just have to plug it in. The two adapters will auto-
connect when powered on, and will not connect to other devices. Cable
Replacement Kits have two 120VAC power supplies, two USB power
cables, two gender changers and two antennae. Connection distances
are near 100M line of sight, and very long thru indoor walls.

For techies and tinkerers, the bluetooth adapters are available as an
unconfigured kit, with configuration instructions. The adapters can be
configured via the RS232 interface with an "AT" command set, similar
to RS232 modems, and can act as DTE or DCE devices, master or slave.
RTS/CTS handshaking is supported, baud rates from 1200 to 230.4K.
Power required is 5 VDC, less than 100ma, supplied either from the
supplied 120VAC power supply or USB power cable, or from an optional
cigarette lighter adapter. 5 VDC power can also be supplied turu pin 9
of the D9 connector. Two LEDs indicate power and connect status. The
factory manual that covers configuration is included. #JEA1 and #JEA2
also come with 120VAC power supply, USB power cable, D9 gender
changer, and antenna.
